A 11.6-megawatt DC solar system from high-performance solar modules by SolarWorld has begun taking shape composed of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power high-desert Adelanto Switching and Converter Station.  

The system includes domestically produced solar panels, racks, inverters and other balance-of-system components, not only presents the American production of solar technology, but also the domestic manufacturing industry supply chain. "The project Adelanto taps the impressive breadth of American engineering and manufacturing know-how," says Kevin Kilkelly, president of SolarWorld in North and South America.  

The switching and converter station in the city of Adelanto is the southern terminus of South Transmission LADWP system, the Southern California connections to wind farms and the existing Intermountain Power Project, a power generation facility in Utah in a position, 1,800 megawatts of electricity.
