Germany's SMA Solar Technology eyes 40% of solar inverter market in India 2012

Germany, SMA Solar Technology AG sees India's solar market is growing at 3.2 gigawatts over the next three years and aims to capture 40% of them, officials said the solar inverter manufacturer.

"We have 40% share of the global solar inverter market, and we want the same market share in India have to," Marko Werner, a member of the Board and Chief Sales Officer told ET.

India is now to scale up its solar power capacity to 20 GW by 2022 from about 10 MW. In general, solar inverters accounted for 10% of the cost of a solar project.

SMA Solar has been selling solar inverters totaling 200 MW in India. In order to expand its operations in the country, now a subsidiary, SMA Solar India Private has been set. First, the Indian subsidiary would provide technical sales support functions, project management and after sales support.
SMA Solar, which has 85 service centers in 19 countries, plans to build two service hubs in Mumbai and Ahmedabad.

SMA, Niestetal, which is at the headquarters in Germany, manufactures solar inverters in the range of 1 kW-1.6 MW.

The company already has 200 MW in India since 2010 in all sectors of off-grid, solar parks and roof power plants.
One estimate is that India has more than 20GW of solar power by 2020. Rakesh Khanna, general manager of SMA Solar India Pvt.

India is an important market for renewable and alternative energy companies.
PV inverters and monitoring systems are the most important technological component of every solar power system.
Mahindra entered Powerol Power Solutions place in 2001 and later engines with diesel generators. The batteries were manufactured for Mahindra Powerol by an international company.

hey. well said . i think its major responsibility on government to promote use of pv panels.especially considering the prices of natural gas and oils rising up eventually. also strict laws must be enacted to promote pv manufacturers interest.

I agree that the government should always promote the use of renewable energy. That is why everyone should use solar power for homes not just to save money but to help our planet as well.
